Fortunate and Faithful Families
2023 Annual Retreat

“Journey Home: A Pilgrimage

Fortunate and Faithful Families held their tenth annual retreat this year on March 5, 2023, entitled “Journey Home: A Pilgrimage.” Our first retreats were held at Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center, still a dear friend and supporter of our ministry. Since 2015, we have held our retreats at the Chancery of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Our gratitude for the invitation and hospitality of the Archbishop and the Chancery staff knows no bounds. This year, approximately seventy persons gathered for this day of faith sharing, community, spiritual nourishment and hope.  Fr. Dennis Dorner and Dr. Ish Ruiz spoke with wisdom and compassion about this journey home to the heart of God (and to church community), which can often be so difficult for LGBTQ persons and their families. The times of small group sharing and silent reflection were valuable opportunities to process and find support and solace. A beautiful Mass was celebrated together followed by dinner and fellowship. The light of God’s presence shone throughout the day, which was the feast of the Transfiguration. All in attendance were mightily blessed!
